The Syracuse University Department of Drama seeks a full-time tenure-track assistant professor of voice/acting. Responsibilities include teaching Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced Voice, Acting, Speech and Dialect classes for BFA performance majors, academic advising and possibility of directing department productions. MFA or PhD. Exceptional professional qualifications will be considered in lieu of a completed terminal degree.

Professional theater experience required.  University-level teaching experience preferred.  Dialect coaching experience necessary; directing experience desirable.  Applicants should be fully trained in a recognized vocal technique (Linklater, Rodenburg, or Berry preferred) and have an in-depth knowledge of actor training techniques, particularly Stanislavski and Meisner.

Salary is commensurate with education and experience.  Position begins August 2010.

The Department of Drama consists of 19 full-time faculty and approximately 260 undergraduate students in programs leading to the BFA degree in Acting, Musical Theater, Design/Technology and Stage Management, and the BS degree in Drama.  The Department enjoys a close relationship with Syracuse Stage, a professional LORT theater, and both organizations are housed in the Regent Theatre Complex.
